Alright, this isn't exactly a rant. It's more of a statement, a speech if you will. I've noticed there are a lot of wonderful artists here on DeviantArt, but some of them don't get enough notability for it. People often think it's unfair how some artists get so popular. Well, it depends on the situation. If the deviant has been here for years, and I mean like atleast 3, then I can see where some popularity sprouted because they probably started as beginners too. Now some deviants got fame pretty much right when they joined DeviantArt. Now, I know alot of people think this is unfair, but, in reality it's not really an artist's fault if they get super popular. They just have things that appeal to the eyes of a bigger crowd. It doesn't make any of us artists any less special. Instead of being jealous of popular artists, we should concentrate on our own works and how WE ourselves want to improve them. You shouldn't do the art for the fame, because then your heart really isn't in it. Some of you may believe that I myself am popular, well, I'm not as popular as all of you may think. Sure, I have some veiws under my belt but the only real reason I have them is because of how many deviations I have in my gallery. I may have alot of watchers, but it's not like every single one comments on everything I make, and I'm fine with that. I too am an artist in abit of darkness.

I guess what I'm trying to say is there are alot of artists out there that diserve to be noticed. Just because we aren't popular or do spectacular work doesn't make us any different from a popular artist. We're still kind people, and we do artwork. People seem to forget that. They practically worship a popular artist for their style when another artist could draw the same thing in a different style but hardly have any attention. People shouldn't close out another artist just because their style doesn't appeal to their eyes, I mean sure it helps to be interested in a style but there are many good pieces of art out there if you look hard enough. Each and every artist here has something in common, and that's art. It doesn't matter what form of it. People seem to categorize artists, but sometimes in the wrong way. I mean there are realism artists, cartoonists, anime artists...But they are all artists, and all deserve a chance to be noticed. Artists shouldn't be lowered just because they aren't doing what everyone else is or because their style doesn't neccisarily appeal to the eye or because they aren't popular.

But anyways, for you artists who are jealous of popular artists. It doesn't matter how many veiws they have or how many faves they have or how many comments they have. It's not about the veiws or the faves or the comments! It's about social interaction between artists. It's about getting tips to improve your artwork. It's about drawing what you like because you like it. It's not about impressing other people or trying to get as many veiws as possible. As said before, when you're doing that, your heart isn't in it for the art, it's in it for the fame.

Now I know there are alot of artists out there that are discouraged and feel like there artwork isn't good or it's worthless because it isn't popular. That is NOT true. Whether you're a pro or a beginner, artwork improves, and you shouldn't be critical of it just because it isn't what everyone else is doing or because it isn't popular. All you artists have wonderful potential but you must not be so critical of your talent. My best friend *Willheart told me that each piece of art you draw is a stepping stone to success. Each time you draw you improve a little more and eventually you'll notice the improvements.

So for those of you discouraged artists out there thinking you aren't great, you're wrong, you have the potential to BE great, you just gotta make it that way. Don't give up, because if you give up you will never see the wonderful artwork you could have made. The wonderful thing about art is it expands on your own time. You don't have to rush to be perfect, and goodness you shouldn't! Don't be jealous of people because they improved faster than you. Every artist improves at their own pace.

All artists diserve notability, and that is why I ask all of you a favor. You don't have to but you have no idea how much it would mean to me and all the other artists out there. If you see a really good artist out there, or a beginner, don't pass them by. Tell them they have potential, give them tips on how to make their art better if they are asking for it. Tell them they matter just as much as everyone else does. Just because their art doesn't seem perfect in your eyes doesn't mean they shouldn't be recognized. The flaws in a drawing can sometimes be fine too, not everything has to be the way everyone else sees it should be. So give an artist a pat on the back, let them know they are appreciated even if they aren't popular. If you see an artist in the dark help them out of it. One person saying those things can mean the world to an artist. Just because we aren't popular doesn't mean we aren't special either. We have just as much potential as the popular people did and do. Remember though, the most important thing is that you yourself are enjoying your artwork. Don't change it just because someone else doesn't find it appealing!
